Hello and Welcome!

Hello, my name is Jessica. I moved to LA from London in December 2015 with my husband. English Lass in LA is a fun way for me to impart the advice I am accumulating, navigating this new world. It’s a big deal relocating to another state, let alone a different country for the first time.  I am excited to be able to share all my discoveries and help anyone doing the same.

I am passionate about a few things in life.   You may notice that throughout this blog that I will mention a lot of things that start with the letter “F.” Nothing rude now ladies and gentleman! I love fashion, fitness, (f)otography, food, fish and I am a now a foreigner.  As a foreigner in a new land, I am constantly learning new things about the US: where the best places to go for vegetarian food are, how to apply for your social security card, what side of the road to drive on and, most important, where I can get hold of my English necessities such as Marmite, Branston Pickle and a proper cup of tea!

Feel free to follow my journey, discoveries, and building my new home from home.

  1. I feel excited for anyone moving. If its local or far away i wish it was me. I wish i could go somewhere else. I see all kind ofwonderful places to move to but here i am. Still in the same place. You are on a tall pedistal to me. Going so far and making it work. Im too afraid to change, and now im getting to old. If i can do it in the next 2 years i will be happy. You inspire me a lot.

    1. Thank you so much, Tim, I am so flattered. To be fair, I’ve had a lot of support moving out here. I have my mother and father in law, my husband and my husband’s high school buddies for friends. They have all made moving away from my family and to another country so much easy. It’s still hard, and I miss my family and friends back home every day but thankfully with technology these days it’s really easy to keep in touch. I have been very lucky. If you would like to move somewhere in the next two years I think you should go for it! If you can! Hopefully, it will be fun and will go well. But if it doesn’t you could always move back, right? Where would you like to move to?

  2. I was thinking of North Carolina. Now im not so sure. I think i might like to live in a rural or mountain area with no one around for miles. Not sure either. I guess i just like to dream.

    1. I don’t know a lot about North Carolina. From what I have seen though, it is beautiful! Somewhere rural with no one for miles appeals to me too. I sometimes dream of that. Nothing wrong with a good day dream! I hope you decide on something that makes you happy 🙂
